Hi readers/ dog friends!
It's been a week since I started this dog-friendly place on Substack and to those who signed up: thank you!
This page has just started its journey like a clumsy puppy jumping in a puddle without thinking about anything but having fun.
Since this pup still has much growing to do, you're invited to cheer, give feedback, or leave suggestions. What would you enjoy reading? What can I help you with? Be like Oona (one of my dogs) and type before thinking, just let it all out!
I noticed that notes share the same feed as my regular newsletter, so this process might be somewhat messy as I figure things out.

It's been a week filled with dog joy, from loud snoring companions at the studio to tirelessly running over a frozen lake. And lots of drawing! All of this felt like a needed antidote to the gloomy and icy days we got- including rain on frozen roads. Or when the news gets overwhelming, there is still the scent of dog paws, snuggles, and frosty walks.
Most sketches are made with pens, markers, and pencils on paper. I might be a bit of a dinosaur, but I love the 360-degree experience. I can hear the scratching of the pencils, the scraping of the sharpener, the scent of wood or markers, and the touch of the paper or paint. The taste I can't recommend, but that's what snacks are for :-)
Digital drawings on the other hand have endless possibilities with colors, textures, and layers. And it's a lot easier to fix mistakes or try different colors. I recently got new digital brushes from True Grit Texture Supply for Procreate and I love them!
A library of digital brushes can feel overwhelming, so I spent an evening swatching all the brushes and writing down my favorites, just like I would do when I get 'real’ materials.
The weekend was for outdoor adventures. I was looking forward to taking more photographs of my dogs being so happy and playful in the snow, but my lens was broken (which isn't nice but at first I thought it was the camera, which would have been much worse).
More about the weekend, the frozen lake tour, and a new sweater that I made for Lizzie you can find here on the blog.
Busy weekends end like this:
It's all true.
Except for the color of the button and the towel, those are both pink but I couldn't find my pink marker.
PS: we leave the door ajar, don't create steam, and never leave her alone. When she's done, she jumps down, opens the door, and leaves.
That's it for now :)
Wishing you a lovely week ahead. I don't know if you can leave images as a comment, but if you’ll be drawing dogs too, I'd love to see them!
See you next time!
